My colleagues at Good Comics for Kids have just finished a roundtable discussion of The Color of Earth, the new manhwa from First Second. It’s an intriguing book that doesn’t really fall into the usual genres, and it’s well worth a look.
David Welsh has a suggestion for the Kodansha folks in his latest Flipped column: Give us a magazine! Back at Precocious Curmudgeon, he makes his picks from this week’s new manga. At Japanator, God Len has the full list.

Yotsuba&! day, im marking this in my digital calender
Yen announced the reprints ages ago, a few days after the announced they were picking up the license
See, I knew my web-fu was weak. I remember Yen saying they would try to get the reprint rights but I couldn’t find anything stating they definitely had secured those rights. Ah well, the important thing is that Yotsuba Day (9/15) is a go!!
Really happy to see you covering The Color of Earth on Mangablog! I edited the second two volumes of the series, and it’s both my first time working with First Second and is my first manga-like project since leaving Tokyopop. I think First Second handled the material very well, and have published a really handsome first volume. As a fan, I certainly hope this isn’t their last foray into manhwa.
